Brazil - Photovoltaic system installed on school
Fall 2022
The high energy prices have serious effects worldwide! The school in Londrina, run by the Sisters of Mary the Schönstattbewegung, with a total of 600 students, was confronted with such increased energy costs that it threatened to close. The school is almost entirely financed by school fees, which not everyone can afford.
The school management therefore implemented a photovoltaic project with a size of 127 KWp in a short time, which massively relieved the school of electricity costs. Since Londrina is a sunny city and the school runs mainly during the day, the payback period for the solar system is only 4 years! In addition to Transatlantic Aid, the project was financed by a large Catholic aid organization and other private donors. The photovoltaic system also makes it possible to tackle other required maintenance work, such as the exterior facade and interior fittings, due to the eliminated costs.
