At Transatlantic Aid, we were able to witness a wonderful initiative: the students of Class 5b at the Primary School Wangen bei Olten learned about children’s rights and decided to take action themselves. In their lessons, they discovered how many children in Nigeria and around the world do not have the opportunity to attend school regularly, learn to read and write, or pursue a profession.
Motivated by this awareness, the children launched a fundraising campaign. With creativity and great dedication, they baked and sold bread rolls, muffins, and cakes, shared their pocket money, and helped out at home or in their neighborhoods.
The result is impressive: CHF 502.75 was raised. With this amount, the 21 students of Class 5b can cover the school education of one child in Nigeria – for an entire three years!
